How Noah Did
A 3000m PR at a regional championship
Noah ran 9:20.90 in the 15-16 Boys 3000m at the 2026 USATF Region 16 Junior Olympic Track & Field Championships at Cerritos College. The time was both a season best and a new personal record, and it came in his first 3000m race of the season after spending much of track season focused on the 1500m, 1600m, and mile.
Competing against an older, deeper field
The 15-16 division included older and more experienced high school runners, making the race a tough championship test for Noah as an eighth grader. He placed 8th out of 16 and stayed in the middle of the pack for much of the race, competing steadily in a stacked field.
Falling short of nationals but still moving forward
The race was a qualifier for USATF Junior Olympic Nationals, with the top five advancing. Noah finished three places short of that mark, but the result still showed clear progress: a 9:20.90 PR, a strong effort against older competition, and another high-level race experience late in his middle school career.
One of his final races with Quick Track Club
This was one of Noah’s final races as a middle schooler and as part of Quick Track Club. His final race of the season came about a week later at Nike Outdoor Nationals, before he headed toward his freshman year at Yorba Linda High School.
